So it's the last week in july and my tomatoes are still green. I read that it could be related to the heat. However I am growing in pots on the patio, so I'm wondering if root constriction will prevent the the tomatoes from getting ripe. It's like a 10 gallon pot so its seemed big enough when I planted but this is a pretty big plant. Also I'm not sure what kind of tomato it is, are there tomatoes that do get ripe until August? Is that a thing?

I've picked tomatoes around Halloween already. When the beans are finished I plant a few more tomatoes in that strip that I had started in pots. One of the things you said makes me think it is the heat though because you use pots, the soil gets much warmer, faster and stays fairly warm longer the roots like to be below 80 degrees. If you have abundant crop you can pick some of them so the others ripen faster if that helps. Hang in there, patience is a virtue!
