From Sen. Obama’s Floor Speech, March 20, 2006:

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here.” Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

Now will Obama take his own failure in leadership? These are his own words or will he blame it on Bush.

I hated Bush's spending but BO makes him look like a kid in a penny candy store.
Watch him come out and cut things so he looks good. He knew he over budgeted to begin with.

Obama already responded to this today, but he did not use the one good argument he had. He should have pointed out that when he made that vote we still were in a period of economic growth and rising revenues. That is precisely the time to address deficits.

Sorry, but I don't find the teleprompter jokes to be anything but mean-spirited. There is nothing wrong with people using teleprompters and it doesn't reflect negatively on them unless they are incapable of expressing a thought without them. That is clearly not the case with Obama.
